How to personalize the emails of your campaign

Several emails are sent during your campaign, for example when a donor contributes to your fundraiser or when a new participant joins your project. It is possible to personalize these emails to add your personal touch to the communications of your campaign.

Why personalize the emails of your campaign?

You probably experienced receiving a generic email where you did not feel that the sender knew or cared about you. It’s the same thing here: the idea is to send personalized emails to the people that support your campaign to show them that you care! Adding your personal touch to all the aspects of your campaign, such as the emails that are sent, show that you are very involved in your fundraiser and that you are actively working on its success; trust us, this mentality definitely affects your donors’ behavior!

Donors that are more or less familiar with you or your project will be much more enthusiastic to the idea of supporting your campaign and sharing it with their network if they can tell that you are passionate and committed to the success of your campaign. It’s the little things that make all the difference!

 

Follow these simple steps to personalize the emails of your campaign:

1. Log in to your Yoyomolo account.

Click on Login in the top menu, and enter your account login information. Click on Log in to access your account.

 

 

2. Go to the My campaigns section in the left menu.

Once you are logged in, click on My campaigns in the left menu to access your campaigns.

 

 

3. Click on Manage to the right of the campaign you want to personalize. 

 

 

4. Navigate to the Emails tab.

After clicking on Manage, you will automatically be redirected to the General Information section of your campaign. Go to the Emails section.

 

 

5. Write your first personalized email!

All the emails sent during your campaign will be listed in this section. Here are some examples:

  • Donation made to a campaign
  • Registration of a participant
  • Pending approval of a teammate

Click on the name of the email you wish to personalize to modify it.

 

 

You will see that each email is available in French and in English. Because the Yoyomolo platform is bilingual, the email will be sent in French or in English depending on the user’s preferred language. You can choose the language in which you want to personalize the email. Your modifications will only affect one language at a time.

 

 

6. Click on Save.

After you are done personalizing the content of an email, click on Save to keep your changes.

IMPORTANT: if you personalize your emails both in French and in English, make sure to click on Save between the modifications for each language. If you change the language of an email before clicking on Save, the modifications you just made will not be kept.

 

 

7. Repeat these steps for each email that you wish to personalize!

You can personalize all the emails listed both in French and in English; have fun!

Replacement codes allow you to personalize your emails even more.

A replacement code is a variable that displays an information that is specific to a user.

Example: let’s do this example using the email that is sent to a donor after contributing to your campaign, to say thanks and to give the donor his transaction information. If the name of the donor is John, the email will usually start with “Thanks for your donation, John!”.

Realistically, it would take way too much time to write a personalized email using a different name for every donor that supports your campaign. For this reason, a replacement code was created to display the donor’s name, no matter who the donor is.

In the replacement code list for the email sent to a donor, it is indicated that the variable {FIRSTNAME} will be replaced by the donor’s first name. Following this logic, the previous example, “Thanks for your donation, John!”, would be written“Thanks for your donation, {FIRSTNAME}!” when you are editing the emails of your campaign.
